It’s not about what people say, but how they welcome you

“I was actually amazed on how cool everybody was and how easy it was to feel like I’ve worked there for years already.” — A piece written by our newest member in business operations, William Bergdahl.

When you’re fresh out of school, I think it’s important to find a workplace where you can not only learn, but also truly feel that you are welcomed. That was the first thing that struck me when I met people from MPYA — everybody was so kind, welcoming and genuinely curious about me.

When I first got in touch with MPYA, everyone I spoke with talked about the culture and how important it is to create a welcoming and friendly atmosphere, with very little hierarchy. I thought to myself that “this is too good to be true”. When I finally got to visit the office, I was actually amazed on how cool everybody was and how easy it was to feel like I’ve worked there for years already.

So, I was very happy when I got the job.

My role is to connect our clients with our consultants, which I’m really looking forward to. I’ve recently finished my studies within information systems, and always felt home with the tech sphere. Actually, my whole family works within IT — guess the apple doesn’t fall too far?

That was the first thing that struck me when I met people from MPYA — everybody was so kind, welcoming and genuinely curious about me.

I am very fond of building client relations; helping people find a great solution is what makes me tick. And if all else fails, I can always share my love for beer. Not the regular Draft Lager at the pub, but the highly delicious variant of beer called “sour beer”, or “gueuze” beer as they say in Belgium. (From I was 18, I commuted to Brussels for three years. It was there I got my interest in beer. Any question about sour beer; hand them to me.)

Am I nervous? Well, any new job is of course exciting. Yet strange enough, already on our first date with my colleagues-to-be I felt like I’m part of the family. So I am just very eager to get started!
